Afghan National ID Card Procedures to Resume Soon

We are pleased to announce that the Afghan Consulate will soon be resuming procedures for obtaining Afghan National ID cards (e-Tazkiras). This is a vital document for Afghan citizens, used for everything from registering for school to obtaining a passport.

We understand that many of you have been waiting patiently for this update. The consulate has been working diligently to ensure a smooth and efficient rollout of the new procedures. We will share a specific start date and detailed information on the application process in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, here’s a quick refresher on the e-Tazkira:

  • What is an e-Tazkira? It’s a secure, electronic version of the traditional Afghan Tazkira (national identity card).
  • Who is eligible? All Afghan citizens, including those residing abroad.
  • What are the benefits? The e-Tazkira is tamper-proof and provides several advantages over the paper version, including:
    • Easier to carry and less prone to damage
    • Faster processing times for various services
    • Enhanced security features

We encourage you to check back on our website and social media channels for the official launch date and application instructions. In the coming weeks, we will also be providing information on:

  • Required documents
  • Application fees
